Jean Marie Drouet was born in 1961 and graduated from the Ecole des Beaux-Arts d’Angoulême. His view of the world is deliberately optimistic and characterized by a contemporary culture of the photographic and cinematographic image. Inspired by the approach of American realist painters such as NCWyeth, Edward Hopper, life scenes and characters form his favorite motifs, while maintaining a real fascination for strong contrasts and the purification of the settings. Jean Marie Drouet’s sunny paintings want above all to show us the bright side of life. As an apology for the moment, his painting is indeed a calm and luminous painting. “My canvases have their origin in the many sketches that I constantly enrich, enriched with my photographic research. The scenes of life that make up my daily life or that I encounter on my travels serve as a source of inspiration, and the figures are my favorite subjects. I have a real fascination for the strong contrasts and the purity of the decorations. Built around a solid composition (the line and the drawing are at the center of all my works), my oils speak above all of calm and light, it’s what I want to show it anyway. ”
