My pictures tell stories. The obvious ones and the hidden ones. I want that one can smile and think about a picture. Only then is it told for me.

Joerg Crone was born in Münster in 1967. He began oil painting at the age of 15, followed by his first exhibitions in small galleries. After leaving school, he worked in a gallery and design agency. An exhibition there with drawings by Joseph Beuys was formative: “Man, he could draw!” Joerg Crone studied visual communication in Münster, later in Düsseldorf. Further stations are Frankfurt and Hamburg, where he works as a freelance illustrator, creative director in international advertising agencies and independently. During his professional career, he has received national and international awards. In addition to his professional occupation with design, he paints themed series of mostly large-format oil paintings. The first monkey portraits were created in 2021. Painted with expressive realism, a crossover of classical painting and pop art. The motifs reflect the themes of our time: warriors and drunks, clowns and philosophers, heroes and tyrants.
